Creative Glass

About us

Creative Glass is a leading specialist in the Design and Production of Architectural and Decorative Glass.

Creative Glass started in 1992, from small beginnings with two people in a very small workshop, to the level it has grown to today.

Creative Glass is now based in a Unique Showroom/Design Studio/Workshop all in one prominent location on Portrack Lane, Stockton-on-Tees. This facility houses state of the art computer design facilities, allied to the latest production technologies, and the designers and crafts people with the ideas to make it happen.

Creative Glass's objective was to create a niche market, with design as the primary feature of its work. A gap was seen to exist in between fine art and the general glazing sector, with nothing accessible in the middle. Using original Design ideas and Innovative production techniques, the company was quickly established as the leader in its chosen field.

Creative Glass has been involved with contributing all types of decorative glass features to most of the current wave of TV Design Programmes including:

  • Carol Vorderman's “Better Homes”
  • Carol Smilie's “Changing Rooms”
  • Naomi Cleaver's “Honey I Ruined the House”-(helping to rescue the House!!) Gardener's World
  • Channel 4 – “Garden Challenge” at Blenheim Palace

The types of Glass Features produced include:

  • Glass Room Dividing Screens
  • Wet rooms & Shower Rooms
  • Glass Sliding Door Systems
  • Frameless Glass Door/Partition Systems
  • Glass Worktops & Splashbacks
  • Photo Encapsulated Glass Features

These are only some of the possibilities; the potential uses for glass are endless.

In working on ideas for the Home Environment, we are using a vast array of techniques and ideas that have evolved whilst working on a variety of Projects such as; the development of waterfront Apartments, Leading Hotels and Restaurants.

People are becoming far more adventurous in looking for individual style and features for their own homes, they have broadened their own knowledge and expertise during their own extensive research.

Creative Glass have Produced and Project Managed many major Public Art and Installation Art Works , literally from near John O'Groats to South West England, and beyond, including up to 40 feet high Sculptures incorporating; Glass, Structural Steel, and incorporating startling Lighting effects.

Often these Sculptural pieces use glass as a structural entity, pushing the limits of glass technology.

These Specialist Projects are often in collaboration with internationally renowned Artists; here the role of Creative Glass can be to turn an Artists visualisation or Marquette into a massive structural sound work of art, built for its site specific location.

Creative Glass work with both traditional, and new innovative techniques, utilising the latest technologies, and can accept and visualise artwork in a wide range of electronic data formats. One of our latest ventures is to produce Photo Encapsulated Glass; this can be used in a variety of settings to create amazing effects. The photographic image can be transformed to become a transparent visually stunning glass partition, or as a centrepiece shower wall with an opaque background.

The Creative Glass team will work closely with you our Clients, providing advice and expertise to turn your visions and aspirations into real individual features for your own environment, whether it is for:

  • The Home
  • Commercial & Workplace Environment

Now meet some people from our Team:

Tony Campbell - Director

Director and Founder of Creative Glass in 1992.

Developed strong background and experience in construction after working in the building industry in various roles for nearly 15 years.

“My role is to work very closely with our Clients, liaise with colleagues, and other specialists such as Structural Engineers, Steel Workers, Lighting Engineers to make Projects happen, and to create opportunities for the others to really show what they can do.”

“Creative Glass initially evolved from a re-emergence of my own interest in art & design that had been suppressed for a long time, it has proved to be a very creative and stimulating change of direction.”

Member of Steering Group of Cohesion- Glass Makers Network.

Currently involved in other interesting areas such as Regional Regeneration, Chair of Stockton Renaissance Economic Regeneration Partnership, Chair of Tees Valley Arts, involved with Stockton-Middlesbrough Initiative, Community Foundation-Fairshare Trust.

Lee Hoggarth - Sales/Estimating Manager

Started as Modern Apprentice, and moved on to the position of Production/Workshop Manager.

Currently in third stage of part-time Degree Course at University studying Management, Project Management, and Business Development.

“Now with nine years experience in design and production, working more directly with clients in planning jobs from the start, I see my role as liaising with clients both on site and in house, ensuring all estimates, quotes and sales are processed efficiently and accurately.”

Maintaining the IT based procedures.

“I endeavour to achieve and maintain the highest standard both within business and personal situations.

Highly motivated, with a keenness to succeed. This, I feel is reflected within my role in the company.”

Sarah Carr – Lead Designer/Artist

Originally studied General Art & Design – specialising in Surface Design, this led onto to studying Architectural Stained Glass.

“Most Clients who visit our Showroom/Design Studio, need assistance and advice when planning their project, they may have a vision, and we simply need to interpret this. Others have a space to fill, but have no idea what is possible or available.

In helping Clients, and offering advice, we also need to visualise the influence of different elements such as; light, reflections, heat etc.”

“Years of working with design and glass, have given me the experience to interpret the interaction of all these different elements.”

“I have spent most of my life, being fascinated by pattern, colour, and shape. I can often be found taking photos of an interesting wall, taking a rubbing of a drain cover, collecting samples of peeling paint and so on. Design doesn't switch off when I am at home, I am always working on my own projects; Tapestry, Mosaic, Quilting, or Photography.”

Barbara Brookes – Designer/Artist

Involved at the very beginning of the company, recently returned to work after a gap of several years raising two children through their early years.

A Graduate of Cleveland College of Art & Design in Textiles and Surface Pattern, worked previously as a freelance textile designer, before transferring these skills to designing and working with Glass.

“My role starts with taking a brief or instruction from the Client, and turning it into a design to be produced, liaising very closely along each step of this process.”

“I am passionate about design; it gives me the opportunity to express myself. Sometimes it can be total self indulgence working with a blank sheet; however, I also enjoy working to the strictest of design briefs. The reward is a clients' delight when the work is presented to them.”

Richard Wiley - Workshop Manager

“After early diversions in my career, including an interesting period in a call centre, I started a Glass Craft Apprenticeship, have moved through several roles including Production Team Leader.”

“Now Workshop manager, with ultimate responsibility for the quality of our work, however we collectively see this as all our responsibilities. We do have very effective procedures in which quality is an integral part of every stage.”

“Main motivation at present is modernising my home, however, this has been slowed down by the arrival of our first child, luckily I finished the nursery in time.”
