UV Bonding

UV Bonding is a technique that allows glass to be bonded directly to other substances including mirror, tiles, stone & metal. The technique creates a joint cured by ultra-violet light that is stronger than the materials that are joined. This is an alternative to drilling for the fixing of hinges, feet; locks etc. The optically clear adhesive used to create the bond is invisible. Coloured UV adhesives and glass can also be used to create unusual colour bleeds and designs.

Kitchen, Wet room and Bathroom Splashbacks

Kitchen, Wet room and Bathroom Splashbacks are becoming popular, modern and hygienic alternatives to using traditional ceramic tiles.

With the easy cleaning and non staining quality that glass naturally has, they are the perfect solution for maintainable surfaces in numerous locations. A clear non stick surface coating can be applied to aid with the ease of cleaning. Please see here for further details: http://www.ritec.co.uk

Clear or sandblasted glass can be supplied for Splashbacks; however holes must be drilled in the glass to accommodate installation. Also these cannot be made completely watertight unlike coloured Splashbacks.

Shaped Glass

Shaped glass is generally produced by a CNC machine, offering great flexibility in the panel shapes available. Please discuss shaped glass with the sales team prior to ordering. Full size MDF/plywood templates or alternatively CAD drawings will be required to confirm the shape you require.

Waterjet

For more specialised and complex shapes we can provide glass cut by a waterjet machine. Subject to the complexity of the shape it may not be possible to toughen the glass. The cut will also leave the glass with a ground and sometimes rough finished edge. Please contact our office staff for further details.

Edge Detail

Standard edge detailing is flat and ariss polished all round(PAR), however, we can also offer other edge finishes such as; mitred edge, bull nose, Ogee, etc. please note that if edge work is not specified the glass will come as cut, meaning potentially sharp to the touch.

Bevelled Glass

The process of grinding and polishing a sloped angle on the face of the edge of flat glass which results in a decorative edge appearance.

Toughened Glass

Glass is Toughened to BS: 6206 Class A for Safety and Security, this is up to 5 times stronger than the equivalent thickness in standard float glass. If broken, the panel will shatter into small, blunt edged fragments which reduces the risk of personal injury.

Laminated Glass

Laminated Safety Glass to BS: 6206 Class B for Safety and Security is produced using two or more sheets of glass permanently bonded together with a resin interlayer. Even if broken, it reduces the risk of personal injury as any fragments remain in place.

Colour Coating

When applying colour to glass for worktops and Splashbacks we can mix colours to match customer specific details. We also have swatches for customers to choose from at our office. Colour can also be incorporated into highly decorative panels to enhance the design further.

Colour Coated Glass - Low Iron v. Float Glass

Colour coating can be applied to both Low Iron, and clear float glass. Clear float glass has an iron content that gives the glass a green tint. Low iron glass, as the name suggests, does not, therefore offering a better clarity of colour.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Painted panels should be carefully cleaned using non-abrasive cleaning materials as advised.
